American Express Credit Card UK is probably the most popular UK corporate credit card. Launched in 1958, the American Express credit card UK was marketed from day one as a premium product with a annual fee higher than that of its competitors. In 1984 the Platinum card was launched which was an exclusive card for that was for customers with at least 2 years of American Express card ownership, excellent payment history and a decent amount of spending. Not only that but there was a $250/yr. fee which has increased over the years. This became a very popular card for business owners and, although it is not exclusively for businesses, it has been referred to as American Express Corporate Card UK or Corporate Express UK. Keeping with the tradition of exclusiveness, in 1999, American Express release the Centurion Card or “Black Card” which originally had a $1,000 US annual fee but it is now $2,500 US with a one time initiation fee of $5,000 US.
